So you are down to your last Rolls Royce and can only afford two foreign holidays this year, would you class yourself as affluent?
Well HMRC might, HMRC have a team which looks into the affairs of affluent people and it has widened its definition of people coming into its remit. I will now classify you as affluent if you have an income of over £150,000 per annum and wealth of £1m to £2.5m. A huge sum of money to the ordinary man in the street, but
HMRC aims to have a team of over 200 tax inspectors to target tax evasion in wealthy individuals. This team aims to brings in over £500m per annum by 2015.
